Position Summary:
Reporting to the Head of IT, the Infrastructure Consultant is responsible for high-level operational support across all Infrastructure service domains aligned to technical technology areas and components incorporating Wintel & Server Services, Storage, Backups, DR, and Hosting Services and we will lead on a number of IT Infrastructure transformation projects at the guidance of the Head of IT and IT Cyber Security Manager.
Essential skills:
* Proven experience working in a similar role with a minimum 3 years infrastructure/architecture/network experience.
* Experience of Infrastructure competency support teams and attributed best practice governance.
* Experience working with enterprise companies in a multi-vendor environment.
* Experience of technical infrastructure teams, internal and 3rd parties.
* Microsoft MCSE/MCSA, VMware certified or equivalent experience.
* Experience maintaining company wide networks - LAN, WAN & MPLS.
* Ability to implement, administer, configure and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including routers, wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches, controllers and security appliances.
* Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware, including Layers 2 & 3 protocols.
* Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems.
* Essential experience of on-premise and cloud solutions.
* Extensive Infrastructure skills across on-premise and cloud based technologies including:
o Windows and Server support technologies experience (i.e. Active Directory, DNS / DHCP Services and Group policies etc.)
o Virtualisation (VMWare predominantly) deployment and support experience
o Directory Services and authentication experiences
o In depth knowledge of IT security, best practices and technologies
o Network concepts LAN, WAN and TCP/IP technologies and protocols
o Working knowledge of SAN storage solutions and technologies. (iSCSI / Fibre Channel)
o Site to Site & Client VPN setup and management.
o Network security experience.
o Remote Access and VDI Solutions including Citrix and Terminal Services
o Storage & tiering, data management and backup technologies
o Implementation and invocation of Disaster Recovery Strategies
o Solid experience with data centre functions, processes and technologies to successfully implement and manage changes, prepare changes and lead teams if needed.
* Infrastructure monitoring and management tools
* Cloud exposure and platform hosting experience - Azure preferred
o Exceptional interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills -
o Strong negotiation skills with the ability to resolve conflicts and problems and follow through to completion
o Working within Project Management Frameworks with understanding of Service Transition stage gates
o Thrives on challenges and responsibility and has high levels of energy, tenacity and enthusiasm to deliver results through the team
* Experience of integrating Microsoft InTune.
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft ActiveSync & Outlook Anywhere.
* Able to work within ambiguity and change
* In-depth understanding of networking hardening principals & penetration testing.
