Job Title: Crane Inspector – Nuclear Project
Location: Bridgewater
Contract Type: Contract - Outside IR35
Role Overview:
Responsible for the inspection and oversight of cranes and lifting equipment on a nuclear construction site, ensuring compliance with LOLER, PUWER, and project safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Inspect cranes (mobile, tower, crawler, overhead), MEWPs, HiAbs, telehandlers, and lifting accessories.
* Ensure compliance with LOLER, PUWER, BS 7121, and site-specific lifting procedures.
* Review and validate lift plans, RAMS, and equipment certifications.
* Maintain inspection records and report findings with recommendations.
* Liaise with lifting teams, contractors, and safety personnel.
* Support incident investigations and QA audits.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Education: HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or NVQ Level 3 equivalent.
* Certifications: LEEA (Parts 1 & 2 or equivalent); CPCS/NPORS Appointed Person (desirable).
* Experience:
o 5+ years inspecting cranes and lifting equipment.
o Strong knowledge of LOLER/PUWER.
o Experience with HiAbs, MEWPs, and various crane types.
Additional Requirements:
* Nuclear clearance (or ability to obtain).
* CSCS card required.
* Physically fit and able to access elevated/confined areas.
* Flexible with working hours and shifts.
