are proud to be working with a charity foodbank in West Ealing who are seeking to hire a Bookkeeper/ Treasurer to work 1 day a week for them. It is remote with an ideal requirement to come in to their office once per month.
The role is paying .c. £30-32 per hour, is permanent so comes with pension contribution also.
About this role
Reporting to the Foodbank Manager, the Treasurer will manage financial operations, account examination/audit, integrity in financial reporting, and regulatory compliance, while driving improvements in systems, processes, and reporting.
The Treasurer will lead and mentor a team of staff and/or volunteers covering financial accounting, treasury, transactional finance and statutory compliance, and work closely with colleagues across the operations to ensure strong financial stewardship and timely, accurate financial reporting.
The Treasurer will need good communication skills to cater to the differing needs of organisation, have excellent attention to detail to ensure that high-quality financial information is produced, capable of adapting changes quickly.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Compliance
* Responsible for and oversee all financial accounting, policies, reporting, finance and treasury operations
* Ensure statutory compliance and audit readiness
* Strengthen internal controls and financial policies
* Manage all tax-related obligations
Treasury, Financial Reporting and Budgeting
* Provide regular reporting to the Trustees and Manager
* Manage treasury activities and cashflow in line with the investment policy
* Review and reconcile key control accounts on a regular basis including bank accounts, payroll and pension, and company credit card account
* Approve and process payment runs on a timely basis
* Coordinate and prepare budgets with Foodbank Manager on an annual basis
* Prepare published accounts and coordinate with account examiner
* Filing of published accounts with Charity Commission and Companies House on a timely basis
* Manage the finance team including volunteers
* Provide ad hoc training as required
* Provide list of low value fixed asset which have not been capitalised on an ad hoc basis
* Keep fixed asset register up-to-date and co-ordinate annual fixed asset audit where applicable
* Ad hoc reporting and duties
System Owner and Key Contact
* Be the system and data owner of accounting and donation software
* Be the first point of contact with the banks, HMRC and account examiner/auditor where applicable
* Drive finance systems optimisation and process transformation
Others
* Provide support for insurance renewal
* Ad hoc support as required
Personal Specification
ESSENTIAL
* AAT qualified or above or qualified by experience
* Experience in accounting for 5 years or more
* Commitment to Foodbank's mission and values
* Trustworthy and able to handle confidential information with care
* Must demonstrate exceptional professionalism and maintain strict discretion at all times
* Highly comfortable with learning new software and systems
* Strong numeracy skills and confidence handling financial information, with experience of
bookkeeping and finance systems
* Strong IT skills e.g. MS Office, proficient in Excel
* Problem-solver who enjoys troubleshooting and demonstrates a 'solution-oriented' approach
* Excellent interpersonal skills: optimistic, tenacious and supportive team member and ability to manage external stakeholders effectively
* Excellent communication skills (including written and verbal skills)
* Organised, excellent time management, highly flexible and can work well independently

DESIRABLE
* Previous experience in the not-for-profit sector
* Previous experience with MyFundAccounting.Online and MyGiving.Online (or similar accounting software)
