Senior Building Surveyor (Projects)
Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service are looking for a Senior Building Surveyor (Projects) to join the team based at either Dorchester Support Offices, Poundbury or Trowbridge Fire Station with the flexibility to work from home or at DWFRS Stations or Support Offices.
Working on a full time, permanent basis of 37 hours per week, you will receive a competitive salary of £48,202 rising to £51,308 per annum.
Your day‑to‑day work will involve future strategic projects aligned with our community safety plan. Your property portfolio will range from fire stations to corporate offices, and you will play a pivotal role in supporting key stakeholder relationships and ensuring the feasibility of future projects through to completion.
Responsibilities
* Be responsible for advising and assisting in the coordination of the strategic capital projects programme with the Strategic Estates Project Coordinator.
* Carry out feasibility studies on potential strategic capital projects, including costings, town planning compliance and preparing feasibility reports to issue to the Estates Strategic Project Manager.
* Assist with the management of contractors and external consultants to deliver the strategic capital projects.

Qualifications
* MRICS/MCIAT/RIBA or equivalent qualification, educated to degree level.
* AutoCAD ability at City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent and proficiency in the use of Revit.
* Effective knowledge and experience of project management procedures and requirements, including budgetary control and stakeholder consultation principles, design and on‑site work.
Other Requirements
* You must have a full current driving licence and be able to fulfil the significant travel requirements of the role. Use of your own vehicle will be required; a service vehicle may be available. Service vehicles are manual transmission only. You will be required to travel across Dorset and Wiltshire for site visits approximately 1–2 days per week. If you are unable to drive due to a disability, we would still welcome your application and will explore any reasonable adjustments.
* A Standard Disclosure & Barring Service Check clearance will be undertaken on the successful individual before offer of employment.
* Any offer of employment will be subject to full pre‑employment checks, including identity checks, right to work in the UK, medical, negative drug test, receipt of satisfactory references, verification of employment history and an explanation of any gaps in employment in the last 3 years.
* Upon appointment you will be required to adhere to the requirements of a Health Surveillance Programme and attend an Occupational Health appointment for baseline readings.
* Additional allowances – Market Force Supplement of £4,127 (subject to annual review).
