Job Title: Workshop Controller / Supervisor / Manager

Role Overview
As a Workshop Controller you will be coordinating a team of technicians and be responsible for ensuring all work is completed in the allocated time to produce high productivity levels. You will continually review processes to ensure we achieve high levels of customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
* Repair – Manage workshop loading and the allocation of work (including Approved PDI) to Technicians to optimise workshop productivity and customer satisfaction. Plan vehicle collection and delivery times with drivers in collaboration with Service and Parts teams.
* Ensure each vehicle goes through the eVHC process. Support the Service Advisor to communicate details, cost and time required for any additional work to the customer.
* Manage the work on the vehicle to ensure all jobs on the Repair Order are completed, using the full set of Technical Support materials for a Right First Time repair.
* Apply an understanding of Warranty Policies to categorise repairs as warranty work and obtain authorisation when required.
* Collaborate with Master Technicians to resolve complex issues and escalate to the Technical Services team as needed.
* Keep the Service Advisor updated on progress so the customer can be informed and approvals for additional work obtained.
* Provide an accurate, complete write-up for each job to help the Service Advisor explain it to the customer and support warranty claims.
* Explain more complex technical repairs to customers to enhance the customer experience.
* Ensure all work on the Repair Order is completed and Quality Controlled to meet customer expectations and maintain transparency.
* Maintain health and safety and environmental standards in the workshop.
* Collection – Verify that Technicians have completed the work and Repair Orders are up to standard. Conduct a quality check, including a road test if required.
* Arrange for the vehicle to be washed and prepared for collection by the customer or Service Delivery Driver.
* Leads the Team – Manage workshop rotas and ensure the required number and mix of Technicians are available. Monitor day-to-day performance, provide feedback, and manage underperformance. Coach Technicians to develop product knowledge and ensure manufacturer training is completed. Work with the Service Manager to recruit and develop a workshop succession plan.
* Drives Improvement – Organise team meetings to review workshop KPIs and discuss performance improvements. Proactively identify recurring problems affecting the customer experience and lead or support continuous improvement projects.
* Skills and Competencies – Attention to detail, ability to work across various franchises, ability to train and coach staff, strong communication and teamwork, able to work independently in a busy environment, prioritisation and organisation, continual learning about products and technical information, and proficiency with appropriate tools and machinery.
* The Person – Ideally fully qualified to Master Technician level with supervisory/managerial experience. Must have 3–4 years’ experience, ideally in a franchised workshop. A full driving licence is essential.
