Senior Residential Child Care Worker – SPACE Hub

Salary: £32,061 - £36,363 per annum*
Duration: Permanent, Full Time 37 hours per week

Program Overview: The “Where Our Children Live” programme seeks dedicated Senior Residential Child Care Workers to lead a new SPACE Hub. The initiative creates safe, supportive homes for Lancashire children and expands residential childcare across the county. SPACE hubs provide four core services: diversion from care; reunification; stabilisation of care arrangements; and tailored support for teenage homelessness protocols.
Responsibilities
* Lead and support a team of Hub Practitioners, including mentoring staff and managing risk during overnight duties.
* Champion the care, safety, and development of children with complex needs, implementing care plans and promoting education and emotional wellbeing.
* Take a central role in inspections, safeguarding, and care planning, acting as a role model for best practice, integrity, and compassion.
* Work on a rota basis, covering days, evenings, weekends, and sleep‑in shifts.
Qualifications
* At least 3 years’ experience in children’s social care or residential settings.
* Hold a QCF Level 4 or NVQ Level 3/4 in a relevant field.
* Confidence in leading shifts, mentoring staff, and managing risk.
* Strong understanding of children’s legislation and safeguarding practices.
