Job Advert
Calling all compassionate and dedicated individuals! Mencap is seeking passionate Support Workers to join our team in Bedlington and Ashington.
As a Support Worker, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will work with a diverse group, each with unique abilities and needs.
We support two ladies with learning disabilities in a supported living service in Bedlington—each has their own bungalow. We also provide enabling support (25 hours per week) for one lady in Ashington.
We aim to grow our team of caring, enthusiastic, and friendly support workers to work with all three ladies.
Being a support worker isn’t just about daily tasks; it’s about having fun! Each lady has her own hobbies: one loves collecting items and holidays to Spain; another enjoys daily outings, shopping, dining, and music lessons; the third enjoys shopping, charity visits, and socialising.
What we're looking for:
* A genuine passion for supporting others.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to build meaningful relationships.
* Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
* A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities.
Contract options:
* Part-time: flexible hours based on availability.
Shift patterns include:
* Service 1: 8am – 10.30pm and sleep-in; 7.30am-8.30am following morning; additionally 8am-8pm (Saturday to Tuesday); 3pm-8pm (Wednesday to Friday).
* Service 2: 7.30am – 3.30pm and 12.30pm – 10pm.
* Service 3: 9.30am – 2.30pm, three days a week.
There is also an option for sleep-in shifts with an enhanced flat rate payment of £62.45.
*All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check and references.
Due to the nature of this service, we are seeking female applicants only. This post is exempt under the Equality Act, Schedule 9, Part 1.
