About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Legal Assistant to join the Council’s Children, Adults & Education Legal Team.
You will work closely with the Council’s children’s social care, adult social care and education services and other services as well as the legal services team and will therefore have good customer care and interpersonal skills, good communication and problem solving skills and will work well as part of a team and be flexible, enthusiastic and committed.
As a Legal Assistant you will be primarily responsible for assisting the in-house legal team. This will include drafting court documents, liaising with social workers & other professionals and undertaking research. In addition you will have a responsibility for running your own caseload of Police Disclosure applications and Non-School Attendance Prosecutions which will involve undertaking your own advocacy in respect of which full training will be provided.
The role will involve providing support to solicitors to enable them to provide comprehensive, cost effective, responsive and quality legal work as part of the Council’s in-house legal team in close cooperation with the relevant Directorates.
