Come and join us as a Sprayshop Welder/Fabricator for Building Product Design at our site in Pinxton, Nottinghamshire. Building Product Design is a renowned leader in roofing ventilation, construction membranes, building ventilation, and specialised building products. They operate two UK manufacturing sites with extensive manufacturing and finishing services, and have industry-leading research and development and in-house product testing.
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled welder/fabricator to cut and join metals and other materials at our facilities or construction sites. You will operate appropriate equipment to assemble mechanical structures or parts with precision. The role provides the foundation for strong infrastructure. You must be competent in using potentially dangerous equipment following all safety precautions. The ideal candidate will have a steady hand and great attention to detail, and knowledge of different kinds of metal and their properties. Training will be provided and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be supplied.
Main Responsibilities
* Read drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and check quality
* Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
* Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g., cut material with powered saws to match measurements)
* Operate angle grinders to prepare parts to be welded
* Align components using jigs, callipers, rulers, etc., and clamp pieces
* Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions
* Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
* Maintain equipment in a condition that supports safety
* Weld multiple metals from aluminium to mild steel
Hours
Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 4.30pm
Essential / About You
* Proven experience as a welder
* Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MIG, etc.)
* Experience using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers, etc.)
* Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
* Knowledge of safety standards and willingness to use PPE (face-shield, gloves, etc.)
* Attention to detail
* Welding Certification required with evidence provided if requested
Desirable
* 5S experience for bay and tool organization
* Ability to assist in maintenance and fabrication requirements
* Ability to weld cast materials
