Blackpool Coastal Housing manages almost 5,000 social housing properties across Blackpool, providing related services to its tenant and leasehold customers and regenerating areas to create opportunities for our local residents to thrive.
We currently have a fantastic opportunity to join our Adaptations Team, within the Care & Repair Department as a Technical surveyor and you might be exactly who we’re looking for!
Blackpool Coastal Housing is seeking an experienced and proactive Adaptations Surveyor to lead on the planning and delivery of property adaptation projects. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents by managing adaptations funded through Disabled Facilities Grants and related assistance schemes.
This role will provide technical expertise and support to the team and wider stakeholders. You will be responsible for the pre planning of adaptation projects, including all health and safety and CDM requirements, as well as budget monitoring, quality control and liaison with all relevant parties. You will ensure that Blackpool Coastal Housing complies with all relevant legislation and statutory obligations in this area.
You will take ownership of adaptation projects from start to finish. This includes carrying out pre-commencement surveys, developing comprehensive project documentation, such as specifications, tenders, costings and schedules whilst adhering to BCH’s procedures. You will monitor contractor performance, lead on site meetings and oversee delivery to ensure that works meet the required standards, remain within budget and are completed on time.
Collaboration is key in this role. You will work closely with Occupational Therapists, statutory agencies, internal teams and external contractors to ensure each project runs smoothly and is tailored to meet individual client needs. Post completion responsibilities include conducting site inspections, signing off works, and contributing to project reviews and evaluations.
For this post you will hold or be working towards a degree in Building Surveying or a related profession, in addition to a HNC/HND in a building or construction related field. Experience in project management, managing contractors, and conducting technical surveys is essential. A strong working knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, including CDM 2015, and familiarity with building regulations is also required.
Any offer of appointment will be subject to satisfactory clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as a CRB check).
