Mazco Recruitment are proud to partner with a leading high-performance engineering business in Abingdon, seeking an experienced Senior Composite Engineer to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer with a strong background in composites, tooling, and laminate manufacture, ideally gained within F1, motorsport, automotive, or aerospace environments. The Role You’ll take a lead role in the design, development, and delivery of composite tooling and components – from concept through to production. This position requires both technical expertise and hands-on problem-solving, ensuring high-quality, repeatable results across advanced manufacturing processes. Key Responsibilities * Lead the design and development of composite tooling to enable efficient, high-quality production. * Optimise manufacturing processes using advanced materials and progressive technologies. * Apply Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles to ensure consistent, cost-effective production. * Provide technical oversight during prototype builds and production runs, resolving issues and driving improvement. * Support the introduction of new materials, laminating methods, and processes to boost performance and efficiency. * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet demanding structural and aesthetic requirements. * Conduct engineering analysis to validate structure, process feasibility, and material performance. * Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians. * Maintain documentation, specifications, and reports to support manufacturing standards and project delivery. Experience & Qualifications * Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Automotive, Motorsport, or Aerospace Engineering. * Proven track record in composite manufacture, tooling design, and laminating within F1, motorsport, or aerospace industries. * Strong understanding of prepregs, resins, cores, adhesives, and composite processes. * Proficient in CAD design (CATIA preferred) for component and tooling development. * Practical problem-solving skills with a hands-on engineering mindset. * Excellent communication and leadership abilities. Desirable * Experience managing suppliers and outsourced composite manufacturing. * Knowledge of lightweight structures and performance-critical vehicle components. * Previous team or project leadership within a composite manufacturing environment.
