This is a vital role within the business, helping to deter theft, identify offenders, and support the successful apprehension and prosecution of those involved in criminal activity. Key Responsibilities Observe, deter, and where necessary, detain individuals involved in criminal activity Work closely with local police forces and crime prevention partners to stay informed of regional crime trends Build strong local networks to identify and disrupt organised retail crime Accurately record and report incidents in a timely manner Attend court when required to provide evidence Maintain stationery cupboards and ensure stock levels are correct Report building and maintenance issues and follow through to resolution Support space utilisation data by carrying out regular audits What We're Looking For A highly adaptable individual who can thrive in a fast-paced environment Calm under pressure with the ability to respond confidently to challenging situations Experience in a customer-facing role with strong customer service skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills (GCSE English or equivalent preferred) Proactive, self-motivated, and forward-thinking with a strong work ethic Confident, approachable, and keen to be part of a supportive, established team SIA licence is essential (store detective experience is highly desirable) Strong observational skills and sound decision-making ability Confidence to challenge individuals when required Comfortable using CCTV, electronic tagging, and modern surveillance systems This is a rewarding role for someone who enjoys responsibility, variety, and making a real impact within a professional retail environment.
