WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: We are looking to appoint four Principal Accountancy Assistants on a permanent basis within our large finance function. These vacancies have arisen across Corporate Finance and Commercial Services, encompassing all aspects of financial management. However, appointable candidates from this process will be considered for future appointments within the Finance function over the following six months where applicable. The duties and responsibilities of each role will vary. However, Principal Accountancy Assistants are expected to be able to: Ensure that consideration is given at all times to achieving value for money and the most efficient ways of working. Contribute to reviews of the utilisation of financial information systems, and to look for continuous improvements in Financial Management Systems, practices, procedures and processes. Directly manage staff including supervision, advice, appraisal and identification of training needs. Prepare detailed revenue and capital budgets. Contribute towards the development of the service contribution within the County Council Medium Term Financial Plan including identification of budget growth items and deliverable savings. Maintain proper budgetary control, forecasting and profiling of all revenue and capital budgets and alignment with appropriate funding sources; to include liaison with project managers, budget holders. Prepare detailed working papers and action the close down of all revenue and capital accounts within agreed deadlines. Provide financial advice to budget managers on the management of revenue and capital budgets including grants Provide advice and guidance on the use of Financial Management Systems and associated business processes. An effective time manager and able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. Independent, and a self-starter with the confidence to take ownership and deliver results. You will need to be fully Association of Accounting Technicians qualified or equivalent relevant qualification and have relevant financial experience.
