JOB DESCRIPTION:
Shape your career as you support shaping the future of healthcare.
Abbott is committed to helping others live their best possible lives through the power of health. For more than 135 years, we have brought new products and technologies to the world – in nutrition, diagnostics, medical devices and branded generic pharmaceuticals. These products create more possibilities for more people at all stages of life. Today, 113,000 of us are working to help people live not just longer, but better, in more than 160 countries.
Abbott Diabetes Care designs, develops and manufactures leading‑edge glucose monitoring systems and test strips for use in both home and hospital settings. Our product portfolio includes Freestyle Libre, a recently launched system that is revolutionising how people with diabetes around the world monitor their glucose levels.
We now have an exciting opportunity for a Procurement Manager (Indirect Categories) to join our ADC Global Sourcing team based in Witney, Oxfordshire. Responsible for the purchasing and supply management activities for indirect categories and sub‑categories, you will work closely with key stakeholders in both Diabetes Care Corporate and Division organisations to develop effective cost‑reduction strategies and implementation plans. By continuously nurturing stakeholder relationships as a business partner, you will identify critical business requirements and provide sourcing and procurement services that meet expectations. You will analyse and coordinate projects to increase supply resilience for consumables and other indirect costs (e.g. facilities, quality, ops, etc.), drive reduced total cost of ownership by optimising Tier 2 and Tier 3 supply chains, leverage extensive market and supplier knowledge to drive lower TCO, and represent Abbott strategically in the industry and community.
Leading a small team, you will create vision and strategy with a multi‑year roadmap to establish the function in ADC, ensuring implementation and leveraging best practices and compliance across all purchasing areas. You will continually look for opportunities for cost reductions, cost avoidance and provision of overall value improvements, whilst measuring and tracking team performance.
The successful candidate will be degree qualified (a master’s degree preferred) within an Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain or Financial field, bringing breadth of experience across both operational and strategic procurement in a manufacturing environment. Ideally a Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or similar, with project‑management qualifications. You will be a self‑starter, results‑focused, with ability to build effective relationships with colleagues and other functional teams, and excellent interpersonal, negotiation and networking skills. Adept at managing change, with experience in a large organisation, and comfortable managing teams at the strategic level.
This position is located in Witney in the UK, and will involve international travel.
Abbott offers a highly attractive benefits package, including a defined‑contribution pension scheme, a share ownership scheme, private healthcare, life assurance, and a flexible benefits scheme tailored to your needs. Optional initiatives include onsite allotments, couch to 5k campaigns, beekeeping, yoga and more!
