Role Purpose
* Act as second-in-command/support to the Section Manager for Reconciliations & Investigations.
* Ensure daily reconciliations (nostro, ledgers, provisional accounts, etc.) are completed accurately and on time.
* Be the escalation point for issues and ensure breaks/exceptions are investigated and cleared.
* Provide team supervision, cross-training, development, and workload distribution.
* Represent the team as a subject matter expert (SME) for reconciliations, investigations, and system-related projects.
* Deliver management reporting (MI) and help with process improvements (efficiency, Kaizen, control enhancements).
Core Responsibilities
* Reconciliations & Investigations
* Daily reconciliation of nostro accounts across EMEA offices.
* Reconcile sub-ledgers to the general ledger (ensuring GL balances are substantiated).
* Investigate and clear discrepancies/breaks (cash breaks, interest/charges mismatches, contingent liabilities, etc.).
* Manage investigations and interest claims to minimise costs to the bank and clients.
* Controls & Governance
* Ensure key controls and deadlines are consistently met.
* Escalate issues promptly and follow through to remediation.
* Maintain accurate logs, MI, and compliance with Head Office rules.
* Participate in UAT, testing, and system/process enhancements.
* Team Supervision & Development
* Oversee daily workflow and help prioritise tasks.
* Train and mentor junior staff.
* Promote knowledge sharing, cross-training, and process standardisation.
* Stakeholder Engagement
* Work closely with Front Office, Finance, Risk, Treasury, IT, and other Operations teams.
* Handle external correspondence with correspondent banks and nostro agents.
* Build strong working relationships across 9 EMEA offices.
Skills & Requirements
* Strong reconciliation and investigation background (nostro, ledger, sub-ledger).
* Analytical, detail-oriented, and risk-aware.
* Good communication skills to deal with internal/external stakeholders.
* Able to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
* Experience with UAT/system testing.
* Education: A-Level minimum, though most candidates will likely have further financial qualifications or experience.
