Midlothian Community Respiratory Team is part of the Intermediate Care Team, treating COPD patients in the community, preventing admissions, treating acute exacerbations at home and optimising respiratory care in a holistic way. The team is multidisciplinary with support from Psychology and Dietetics, and accepts referrals from GPs, hospital staff, SAS and community health care professionals.
There is 1 permanent Band 6 physiotherapy post available.
Role Responsibilities
* Working with patients in a home and clinic setting to optimise the care and self‑management of patients with COPD
* Supervision of Band 5 Physiotherapists, assistant practitioners, clinical support workers and students
* Deputising for the team lead and APP staff where appropriate.
* Developing and participating in training programmes for the local CRT service and wider national training.
* Maintaining own CPD and TURAS in line with the 4 pillars of practice.
This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (child and/or adult), an application must be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check than is currently the case. If the post is assessed as a regulated role, appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. Any change to what is currently required will be confirmed by the Hiring Manager or the Recruitment Team.
