As leakage management has significant public and political attention, we're seeking a Business Lead to drive our ALC team's success and further elevate our performance.
Role Overview: As the Business Lead for Active Leakage Control, you will effectively lead a team of approximately 100 employees, predominantly field-based, to execute the "Locate" component of our PALM (Prevent, Awareness, Locate, Mend) Leakage Management strategy. Your role will encompass strategic leadership, operational oversight, and collaborative engagement across various directorates to achieve ambitious leakage reduction targets while fostering a culture of safety, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and oversee day-to-day operations of the ALC team, ensuring safe and efficient execution of activities.
2. Drive compliance with company Health and Safety policies, promoting a Zero Harm culture and preventing RIDDOR events and lost-time injuries.
3. Ensure achievement of leakage savings targets associated with the "Locate" strategy.
4. Manage performance, collaboration, and accountability within the ALC team.
5. Develop and implement efficient ALC delivery plans to optimise leakage outcomes.
6. Collaborate cross-functionally with Customer Operations, Customer Experience, and other directorates to ensure alignment and delivery of ALC targets.
7. Utilise technology and innovative techniques to drive sustainable improvements in leakage performance and reduce operational costs.
8. Contribute to the development of plans to meet significant leakage performance commitments for AMP8.
9. Deliver executive-level updates and engage with external stakeholders confidently.
10. Cultivate a positive culture of continuous improvement within the team.
11. Expected to participate in our 'Bronze' level standby rota.
Experience Required:
12. Demonstrable experience in the water industry, particularly in leakage management.
13. Proven leadership experience, preferably with large operational teams.
14. Comprehensive technical understanding of Active Leakage Control techniques.
15. Knowledge of water system operations, repair and maintenance methods, and customer-side leakage.
16. Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills across multiple levels.
17. Adaptive communication style sensitive to individual preferences.
18. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities in high-pressure environments.
19. Ability to manage multiple tasks and delegate effectively towards collective goals.
20. Experience in a customer service environment is advantageous.
21. Commercial acumen and budget management experience.
22. Track record of influencing senior stakeholders and delivering measurable outcomes.
