Accounts Payable Manager Colonna’s Shipyard, Inc. is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to support our financial operations in Norfolk, Va. This is a critical role that oversees all aspects of the accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate processing of payments to vendors and suppliers. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with ERP systems, preferably Deltek Costpoint, and a strong background in managing high-volume AP functions in a manufacturing or industrial environment. This position works onsite and may regularly require hours beyond a standard work week. Position Summary: The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for managing the AP team, maintaining relationships with vendors, and ensuring compliance with company policies and relevant regulations. This position will also drive process improvements, optimize cash flow through effective payment strategies, and support month-end close activities related to AP. Additionally, the AP Manager will manage labor processing and invoicing for the Company’s temporary staff resources. Key Responsibilities: Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and reconciliations as well as accurate account coding. Manage the full cycle of accounts payable, including invoice approvals, and payment runs – taking advantage of early payment discounts. Manage employee expense report reimbursement cycle, including review for proper coding. Oversee month-end and year-end AP close processes. Collaborate with Procurement, Receiving, and other departments to resolve discrepancies and improve workflows. Maintain the entries of intercompany expenses. Effectively manage cash outflow by coordinating appropriate payment cycles. Ensure accurate and timely 1099 reporting and compliance with tax regulations. Monitor AP aging reports and manage vendor relationships to maintain favorable terms and resolve issues. Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and responding to inquiries. Maintain and improve AP processes and internal controls to ensure compliance with company policies and audit requirements. Additionally, the AP Manager will lead, coach, and develop the team, while fostering a collaborative and productive work environment and managing full employee lifecycle activities. Qualifications: Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required (additional experience will be considered in lieu of degree) and 5 years of progressive AP experience. Must have experience in a supervisory or managerial role. Must have strong proficiency in ERP systems, with Deltek Costpoint experience highly preferred. Must have knowledge of GAAP and internal control best practices. Must have excellent analytical, organizational, and communication (both written and verbal) skills. Must be able to work onsite daily in Norfolk, VA. Travel Requirements: Minimal Travel; 10% or less. Physical Requirements: Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods. While performing the duties of this job, you may frequently be required to stand, walk & sit; use hands or fingers; handle or feel; talk and hear. Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb and balance, stoop, squat, kneel, twist and crawl. Able to sit and work on a computer for long periods of time.
