Taylor Woodrow is recruiting for a Project Manager to join the joint venture responsible for the construction and delivery of HS2’s Old Oak Common station in North West London. The circa £1bn project will include the delivery of six underground platforms as well as up to eight platforms on the adjacent Great Western Main Line.
Responsibilities:
1. Resource, develop, and lead a team, defining and communicating project objectives and constraints while ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation to deliver the project on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
2. Maximize profit while striving to exceed client expectations, acting as the senior site representative for Taylor Woodrow across the project.
3. Ensure team members are aware of their responsibilities and assign tasks accordingly.
4. Develop individuals through coaching and training.
5. Manage designers, including providing direction for the design manager.
6. Produce required schedules and monitor progress.
7. Understand BIM, its implications, and its value within the organization.
8. Procure materials, plant, and sub-contractors to meet project targets.
9. Ensure work is carried out in accordance with all HS&E legislation and site health, safety, and environmental plans.
10. Review health and safety incidents, providing summaries and recommendations.
11. Conduct periodic inspections of construction sites to ensure compliance.
12. Maintain adherence to budget, quality, and safety standards.
13. Identify potential disputes and claims related to project design and construction.
14. Mitigate legal issues and defects liability risks.
15. Communicate effectively with contractors responsible for various project phases.
16. Decide on solutions to major issues and challenges.
Person Specification:
1. Previous experience as a Project Manager delivering major infrastructure projects, particularly in rail.
2. Formal qualification in civil engineering or a related construction field.
3. Chartered status is desirable.
