Your impact

The Project Manager’s primary role is to support the Project & Programme Management Team in leading the IPT to successfully deliver the Advanced Targeting Sector’s Lasers programmes against the Sectors business targets.

As Project Manager within the Lasers IPT, you will be joining an established IPT in a role varied in scope, responsible for a project or projects across the development, production and support of the Leonardo Lasers product portfolio. In addition, you will provide support to and interaction with the wider IPT Project Managers and Programme Managers.

The three main objectives being to ensure continued customer satisfaction, minimise business risk and maintain project costs/schedule within approved costs & timelines.

Key Responsibility Areas

Ensure successful delivery of Projects in a timely manner and within budget.

Customer Interaction – be the first point of contact for major US customers. Preparation/delivery of weekly reports and engagement in subsequent weekly discussions.

Coordinate & lead the preparation of Customer reviews, Supplier reviews and internal project reviews.

Clarify and document business requirements in order to ensure project plans are comprehensive, realistic and in line with Leonardo objectives.

Manage, maintain and develop projections for resource planning in order to advise management on budgetary issues and maintain accurate resource demand planning.

Assess business prospects in line with Leonardo policies and procedures in order to ensure they are accurately documented and represented in project plans.

Communicate project plans and progress across the IPT in order to ensure all stakeholders are briefed and up to date.

Summarise salient planning and schedule progress in order to provide advice and make recommendations for consideration by the senior levels within organisation.

Lead and develop a team of people, delivering a project in order to ensure work is resourced and allocated effectively and that processes are adhered to.

Support the maintenance of the Lifecycle Management framework that governs the operation of the IPT including.

1. The preparation, management and review of bids and communicate to the relevant internal stakeholders in order to support the defined requirements.
2. Complete risk and opportunity studies to measure exposure to risk and manage contingencies.
3. Ensure LCM governance and reviews are held in a timely manner

What you’ll bring

Appropriate industry Degree/ Qualification or equivalent or relevant experience

Typically meets the associate membership requirements of a professional body e.g. (ACostE/ MAPM/ PMI, Association of Proposal Management Professionals).

Knowledge of techniques and procedures gained through training including: EVM Standard Theory & Network Planning, Design lifecycle and technology within Leonardo products.

Project delivery experience.

Experience in developing and maintaining internal/external Customer and Supplier relationships.

Good organisational & interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate concepts in a non-technical way.

Demonstrated Experience using process skills such as EVM, CPA & Risk/ Opportunity management.

Ability to work autonomously and to strict schedules.

A pro-active approach with a willingness to problem solve through a “can do” attitude.

Typically meets the knowledge and experience competency levels of Project Manager (intermediate) or PMO Specialist as defined by the APM Competency Framework
