Head of Commercial – Power & Grid Division
Location: UK-based with regular travel across project sites and offices

Reporting to: Commercial Director – Projects

We're looking for a dynamic Head of Commercial to lead the commercial function within our Power & Grid Division. As Head of Commercial, you'll be responsible for driving commercial strategy, managing risk, and leading a talented team of commercial professionals. Your role will span:
Leadership & Collaboration
1. Lead and develop a team of Commercial Managers and Quantity Surveyors
2. Work closely with senior stakeholders across Power & Grid and other business units
3. Represent the division in strategic forums and contribute to cross-functional initiatives
Commercial Strategy & Performance
4. Oversee cost value reconciliation (CVR) reporting and financial forecasting
5. Drive operational efficiencies and maximise profitability
6. Ensure accurate reporting and compliance with company policies
Contract Management & Risk
7. Lead contract negotiations with clients and subcontractors
8. Manage procurement relationships and ensure value for money
9. Identify and mitigate commercial risks across all projects
Client Engagement & Business Growth
10. Build strong relationships with clients and industry partners
11. Support business development and tendering activities
12. Represent Mitie at industry events and forums
Team Development
13. Coach and mentor your team, supporting career progression and professional development
14. Promote a culture of excellence, inclusion, and continuous improvement
What We're Looking For
We're seeking a confident, commercially astute leader with:
15. A degree in Quantity Surveying, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
16. Proven experience in senior commercial roles within electrical engineering, renewables, or MEP projects
17. Strong knowledge of contract law and standard forms (NEC, JCT)
18. Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills
19. A full UK driving licence
Desirable:
20. Chartered status (e.g., RICS)
21. Leadership qualifications or accreditations
22. CSCS card (or equivalent)
