Job purpose
Assist in the efficient and economical running of the pharmacy service by dispensing prescriptions according to departmental policies and maintaining accurate stock levels in wards and departments, including Pharmacy.
Main duties of the job
1. Dispense inpatient, discharge, and outpatient prescriptions using the Pharmacy Computer System, following departmental policies and procedures.
2. Assist in stock management by maintaining accurate stock levels, completing daily stock take sheets, and performing housekeeping duties such as tidying shelves and reshelving medicines.
3. Assist with ward/departmental topping-up services to ensure availability of pharmaceutical products and consumables for healthcare personnel.
4. Check expiry dates regularly, ensure stock rotation and proper storage, maintain logs, and report exceptions.
5. Monitor and log fridge temperatures daily, reporting any issues.
6. Prepare, update, and print computerized lists for stock issues for relevant clients.
7. Maintain accurate records using the Pharmacy Computer System and prescription tracking system, including filing prescriptions and requisitions.
8. Order/requisition stock from the Pharmacy Store as needed.
9. Keep the work area clean, tidy, and organized.
10. Assist in collecting performance, workload, and audit data.
11. Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to developing new procedures.
12. Rotate duties with other staff to maximize efficiency.
