Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Café Supervisor to support the Cafe Manger by overseeing the daily operations of our café. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a passion for hospitality, ensuring that our customers receive exceptional service while maintaining high standards of food safety and quality. This role requires a blend of culinary expertise, team management, and operational oversight to create a welcoming environment for both staff and patrons.
Responsibilities
* Supervise daily café operations, ensuring efficient service and adherence to food safety standards.
* Manage food preparation and production processes, maintaining high quality in all offerings.
* Lead and motivate a team of baristas and front of house staff, fostering a positive work environment.
* Oversee inventory management, including ordering supplies and managing stock levels.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the café.
* Train new staff in food preparation techniques, barista training,customer service, and café policies.
* Handle customer inquiries and complaints with professionalism and courtesy.
* Develop menus in collaboration with culinary staff, incorporating seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
* Delegate front of house duties to the staff team..
* Ensure compliance with the Health & Safety Policy and Food Hygiene System both front of house and kitchen, taking responsibility for corrective action.
* Undertake all work detailed on the opening schedule delegating tasks to front of house assistants.
* Liaise with the Chef on food availability and inform all staff of any menu items which are unavailable.
* Deal with any customer concerns in a professional, timely and polite manner.
Experience
* Proven experience in a supervisory or managerial role within the hospitality or restaurant industry.
* Strong culinary experience with knowledge of food preparation techniques and cooking methods.
* Previous experience in a café or barista setting is highly desirable.
* Demonstrated ability to manage a team effectively, showcasing leadership skills.
* Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices in food production.
* Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service excellence.
* Ensure the security of the building at the end of each day.
Requirements:
* Experience in the food sector, catering and hospitality.
* Barista training
* Experience of staff management.
* Experience of financial management desirable.
* A flexible and 'hands-on' approach in which, where necessary, all staff work at different parts of the enterprise.
* Nominated key holder to lock up.
* Monitor deliveries from suppliers making sure all delivery notes/invoices have been checked.
* Ensure the completion of the weekly cleaning rota delegating tasks to the staff team as appropriate.
