Overview
Specialist CAMHS Practitioner/Clinical Psychologist role at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for an experienced mental health practitioner or psychologist who can work autonomously within a multi-disciplinary team, to support children and young people with complex emotional and behavioural difficulties.
The post is within South Manchester CAMHS, The Carol Kendrick Centre, and involves working with a range of referrals across the age range. The majority of time is expected to be spent in face-to-face clinical practice.
Responsibilities
* Manage your own caseload with high-quality care appropriate to the child or young person’s needs.
* Conduct mental state assessments, risk assessments and management, and family and social assessments.
* Provide consultation and interventions that are formulation-driven and evidence-based.
* Engage in multi-disciplinary liaison and collaborate with other services; participate in training and supervision of other professionals as appropriate.
* Deliver clinical work autonomously within professional practice guidelines.
* Contribute to on-call rota within the South Manchester CAMHS service when required.
* Promote and develop partnerships with other professionals and agencies, interfacing with the Child and Adolescent Mental Health THRIVE Framework.
* Provide teaching and supervision to other professionals, junior staff, and/or students, and offer regular consultation to the wider children’s service.
* Apply time management to prioritise direct clinical practice while fulfilling role responsibilities.
Qualifications and Skills
* Registration as a Health Care Professional (e.g., Clinical Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Paediatric or Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker) or equivalent.
* Significant experience of working with children, young people and families with complex mental health needs.
* Working knowledge of CAMHS and/or adult mental health, and ability to assess complex mental health needs and levels of risk.
* Ability to work autonomously within a multi-disciplinary team and to communicate effectively with a range of services and agencies.
* Experience in assessment, formulation, and provision of evidence-based interventions for children and young people and their families.
