Job Description:
Grõ Careers is proud to partner exclusively with an award-winning, design-led practice seeking a talented Architectural Assistant or Architect (up to 5 years post-RIBA Part 2) ready to immerse themselves in the construction stages of two London regeneration schemes.
You’ll work directly under the guidance of an ex-Foster + Partners Director, liaise directly with contractors, sub-consultants, and the wider design team on high-quality, multi-unit residential projects. Your immediate focus will be RIBA Stage 5, but for those who excel, broader project exposure across earlier RIBA stages is available, including opportunities to contribute to projects from inception through completion, with broader exposure to alternative project sectors (hospitality, cultural, and more).
If you’re eager to utilise your site-based knowledge while keeping one eye on your long-term design aspirations, this is the perfect opportunity.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Collaborate with Contractors and Sub-Consultants: Review construction information, assess sub-consultant packages for compliance, and ensure design intent is delivered on site.
* Drive Coordination: Maintain oversight of technical details, design information, and programme alignment across complex residential projects.
* Ensure Design Quality: Attend site meetings, manage RFI's, and maintain robust change control processes to ensure the project’s success.
* Support Senior Leadership: Work closely with an experienced Director to navigate design and delivery challenges, handling live construction issues.
* Expand Your Project Scope: Once the initial Stage 5 focus is complete, you’ll have the opportunity to broaden your experience across earlier RIBA stages, from design concept to delivery, should you wish to expand your skillset further.
What You’ll Bring
* Architectural Experience: Up to 5 years post-RIBA Part 2 experience (Architectural Assistant or newly qualified Architect) in the UK.
* RIBA Stage 5 / Construction Expertise: Essential - demonstrable site experience on UK-based, mixed-use / multi-unit residential projects.
* Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations, construction workflows, and reviewing contractor and sub-consultant information for compliance.
* Software Skills: Revit proficiency is essential, although initial hands-on production may be limited; experience with project management tools (Newforma, Asite etc.) is a bonus.
* Collaborative Mindset: Proactive, organised, and capable of building positive working relationships across design teams, contractors, and clients.
Why This Role
* Learn from the Best: Work directly under an ex-Foster + Partners Director with a reputation for mentoring and developing talented architects.
* Broaden Your Experience: Gain essential Stage 5 / site experience while opening doors to earlier RIBA stages or alternative sectors for those eager to develop a well-rounded architectural career.
* Impactful Projects: Contribute to two high-profile, multi-unit regeneration projects.
* Design-Led Practice: Join a collaborative studio that values design quality, technical excellence, and innovation.
* Clear Progression: £38k-£45k salary (depending on experience) plus benefits, with pathways for career development tailored to your ambitions.
