BDS is a small independent and innovative market research consultancy specialising in the construction materials and waste sectors. The company provides consultancy support for clients and publishes a wide portfolio of industry reports for key sectors of the construction industry including aggregates, asphalt, ready‑mixed concrete, concrete products and cement.
BDS is seeking to recruit a Senior Research Executive to join a small team based in Nottingham. The ideal candidate will have at least seven years’ experience in market research and data analysis with an interest and passion to learn more about the construction and waste industry. You should be confident in Excel, competent at preparing clear and concise reports and able to deliver high‑class attention to detail. An understanding of the market area would be beneficial, but is not essential as market knowledge will be provided in the role.
The Senior Research Executive role is diverse, offering an opportunity to expand existing skills while moving into a position that includes team management. You will be expected to work on a range of projects and consultancy studies, and to lead and support a team of like‑minded individuals. You will report to the Research Director who will provide guidance and support where necessary, and you will be expected to support and guide the work of others.
Responsibilities
* Manage small and medium‑scale research projects from start to finish, including report writing and data & statistical analysis.
* Support the team with the collection and review of information.
* Help update and ensure industry databases are maintained appropriately.
* Act as an intermediary point between the BDS team and the BDS Director.
* Help, support and guide other staff to grow their skills in market research while developing your own understanding of construction materials and the waste industry.
Essential Skills
* Ability to write concise and clear reports on market topics, identify key findings, and use a mixture of sources to predict market activity.
* Confidence with data, the ability to analyse and synthesise qualitative and quantitative information accurately, and to select significant facts from findings.
* Ability to work independently, timely and accurately with a high level of attention to detail.
* Ability to be friendly but firm, ensuring work from self and others meets a defined standard.
* Demonstrates good interpersonal, communication, organisational and time management skills, and is motivated and willing to continually learn.
Job Details
* Job Type: Full‑time, Permanent, Office based, Nottingham 5 days a week
* Salary: From £40,000 per year (+ contributable pension, health insurance and annual bonus)
