Job Description:
JOB PURPOSE
To provide on-site supervision, cleaning and non-cleaning services under the direction of the designated line manager or other authorised person and in accordance with the practices and procedures of the Education Authority.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Security
* Security of the premises (including school meals accommodation) and its contents.
* Open and close the premises and grounds, except where another person is authorized.
* Ensure all windows are closed, doors and gates are locked at the end of each day.
* Manage keys securely and ensure their return.
* Operate and monitor security systems, report faults.
* Respond to after-hour incidents, ensure premises are secure and cleaned.
* Report suspicious activity and breaches of security, including illegal substances.
* Apply grit/rock salt during snow and frost conditions.
Mechanical and Electrical Services
* Operate heating systems efficiently, ensuring energy conservation.
* Maintain lighting and heating, monitor utility usage.
* Replace lamps and report equipment defects.
* Maintain water levels in pools.
Cleaning
* Clean premises, plan and organize cleaning staff work, oversee standards.
* Manage external and internal cleaning tasks, including grounds and equipment.
* Prepare premises for activities and ensure cleanliness of fixed glass and fittings.
Porterage
* Transport stores, materials, and waste, assist with room setups.
Administration
* Prepare reports, organize contractors, maintain records, and report defects.
Handyperson Duties
* Perform duties within competence.
General Conditions
* Comply with health and safety laws and regulations.
Training
* Accept relevant training, conduct staff training, keep records.
Elections
* Assist with election-related duties as required.
Other Duties
* Perform other duties within the grade as required.
