Overview
Band 4 Assistant Practitioner Clinical Imaging role in the Imaging Department. The post-holder will carry out plain film (x-ray) examinations under the supervision of a Radiographer within a defined scope of practice. We are seeking an Assistant Practitioner (Clinical Imaging) who aims to work at West Middlesex University Hospital and contribute to an imaging service focused on quality, patient care, and continuous professional development.
Responsibilities
* Perform non-complex, protocol-driven plain film (x-ray) examinations for cooperative patients under the supervision of a Radiographer within a defined scope of practice.
* Manipulate and mobilise radiographic equipment and patients to obtain high-quality diagnostic images in line with departmental protocols.
* Ensure patients receive a high standard of care and are treated with professionalism and compassion.
* Be conversant with routine procedures in all x-ray rooms for cooperative patients and communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth department operation.
* Adhere to Radiation Protection guidelines, IR(ME)R guidelines, and local rules.
* Comply with Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 requirements; maintain clean and safe working areas.
* Participate in departmental quality assurance programs and report equipment faults.
* Undertake other duties appropriate to the post and demonstrate safe manual handling and infection control practices.
* Maintain commitment to personal development through Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and participate in performance appraisal as required by Trust guidelines.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Experience or training in performing plain film radiography under supervision.
* Understanding of radiation safety, patient care, and quality standards in imaging.
* Ability to work within a team, communicate effectively, and support service improvements.
* Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development and appraisal processes.
