At the CRUK Cambridge Institute, we perform world leading science which focuses on positively impacting cancer patients' lives. In the Pre-Clinical Genome Editing team, our mission is to exploit technology to enable meaningful advances in understanding and treating cancer. We exploit and adapt cutting edge technologies to enable researchers to gain novel biological insight. As a Scientific Associate, you will join the highly specialised Pre-Clinical Genome Editing team and apply your expertise to the genetic manipulation of complex, patient-relevant model systems. Our team has a wealth of expertise in CRISPR technology, its innovation and its application both in vitro and in vivo. You will complement our capability to both innovate the technology and to edit complex cellular systems. As a technology expert, you will work collaboratively with researchers to bring technological solutions to important biological questions.
Key Responsibilities
* Working collaboratively with research groups, and other core facilities, to deliver high impact functional genomics-based projects
* Applying your expertise in advanced CRISPR technologies (eg PRIME editing) in the in vitro and in vivo setting
* Bridging project phases between in vitro CRISPR engineering and in vivo efficacy testing, ensuring continuity across systems and teams
* Contributing to novel technology adoption
Qualifications
* A Masters working on advanced CRISPR technologies
* Clear evidence of driving research projects autonomously, both in vitro and in vivo
* Expertise in PRIME editing and other advanced CRISPR technologies
* Prior experience working with murine models, particular GEMMs
* Literate with CRISPResso2, PRISM, SnapGene software
* Robust molecular biology expertise (primary cell culture, electroporation, plasmid design, cloning, lentivector expertise, western blotting)
* Proactive, adaptable and enthusiastic about learning new concepts and technologies
* Excellent and effective communication skills are essential to this role.
