Sous Chef – £36,000 Tips | 4-Day Week | Luxury Country Estate, North Yorkshire About the Role We are looking for a talented and experienced Sous Chef to join the kitchen team at a prestigious luxury country estate in North Yorkshire. This stunning estate is home to both a relaxed restaurant with rooms and a fine dining restaurant, both offering exceptional dining experiences. Known for its focus on sustainability, the estate sources fresh, seasonal produce from its own gardens and orchards, providing the perfect environment for culinary creativity. Key Responsibilities Assist the Head Chef in overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring smooth and efficient service. Lead and motivate the kitchen team, ensuring high standards of food preparation and presentation. Work collaboratively to develop and implement seasonal menus that reflect the estate’s unique offerings. Maintain a clear grasp of stock control and work towards achieving company targets. Ensure that the kitchen operates to the highest standards in the absence of the Head Chef. Enforce compliance with food hygiene, health and safety legislation, and guidelines. Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, providing support and guidance for their professional development. Contribute to menu planning and the introduction of new ideas to keep the offerings fresh and exciting. Requirements Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Sous Chef in a busy, high-end kitchen environment. Level 2 or 3 Food Hygiene Certificate. Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide a team. A good understanding of stock control and working to company targets. Passion for creating high-quality dishes with fresh, seasonal produce. Ability to step up and take control of the kitchen when the Head Chef is absent. Experience in maintaining high standards in a fast-paced environment. A can-do attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement.
