We are recruiting a Mechanical Design Team Lead to take ownership of the design and delivery of advanced technical applications. This is a senior technical leadership role combining hands-on engineering with team development and global project delivery.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Engineer looking to take step into management. The role will initially involve managing a team of 2 with potential scope to grow to a department to 8-10.
In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to:
* Lead a team of Process Design Engineers, driving the development of innovative engineered solutions with global reach.
* Own system requirements, architecture, and design standards across relevant product lines – ensuring consistent design rules, calculation methods, and verification approaches.
* Recruit, develop, and coach a high‑performing team: defining role profiles and development plans, fostering a strong culture of product quality and continuous improvement.
* Lead the design and development of systems and infrastructure with complex, high-tech applications.
* Collaborate with diverse, cross-functional teams within a global engineering organisation.
Candidates should hold a degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (or similar) and bring experience developing complex mechanical systems. Strong knowledge of applicable engineering standards (CE/UKCA, UL, machinery safety) and experience with 3D CAD and PDM/PLM systems are essential. Prior experience leading engineers or workstreams in a matrix or international environment is highly advantageous.
This role offers flexible and hybrid working (2 days from home and flexi-time), 27 days holiday, pension scheme and death in service.
You will also get exposure to global engineering programmes, and a clear technical and leadership progression path within a forward-thinking engineering environment
