The company values commercially viable, scalable, and impactful innovation, blending existing technologies with new ideas to drive change.

Elire is a startup, only two years gestation, however scaling very quickly. Your role extends from strategic decision making within your domain to personally undertaking structural analysis and submission preparation.

Role Description We are seeking an aspiring, accomplished and visionary Chief Architect to lead the end-to-end naval and architectural design of floating hydrogen & power infrastructure systems.

This senior leadership role will shape the spatial, structural, and operational integration of large-scale maritime platforms, with a focus on sustainable, high-performance design in coastal and riverine environments.

The ideal candidate will bring a rare combination of design innovation, technical excellence, and system-level thinking, able to navigate both the architectural vision and the naval architecture fundamentals of offshore platforms.

You will lead the full design envelope of floating sub-structures, from hydrostatics and hydrodynamics through to structural scantling, global stability, and Class compliance.

A key focus of the role will be coordinating the complex interface between hull, mooring systems, and above-deck superstructures, ensuring compliance with Flag and Classification Society standards while enabling design flexibility, user experience, and lifecycle operability.

This position also requires ownership of model-based design cycles, including development of 3D General Arrangements (GAs), structural FEM, CFD and RAO analyses, and oversight of tank testing and Approval-in-Principle programmes.

You'll be responsible for systems integration of ballast, bilge, fire zoning, and damage-stability measures, alongside MARPOL, SOLAS, MCA, and ISO submissions for full regulatory approval.

As a cross-functional leader, you’ll coordinate a broad team of engineers, maritime specialists, and architecture and MEP professionals to deliver certifiable, manufacturable, and maintainable designs that meet both technical and user-driven outcomes.

This position is ideally suited to a Chartered Naval Architect or Architect with extensive experience in offshore or floating-asset design, passionate about the evolution of marine urbanism and waterfront infrastructure.

You will play a critical role in shaping the next generation of resilient, sustainable ocean-based environments.

This is a unique opportunity to lead design innovation at the intersection of architecture, engineering, and maritime systems, transforming floating infrastructure into a platform for global impact.

Key Responsibilities:

* Lead the architectural and naval architecture design of modular floating sub-structures across all project stages

* Own the integration envelope between hull, moorings, and above-deck systems, ensuring performance and regulatory alignment

* Drive model-based design, including 3D GAs, structural FEM, CFD/RAO analysis, and tank-testing for de-risking and Class approval

* Specify and integrate key marine systems: ballast, bilge, fire protection, service zones, and safety compliance (MARPOL, SOLAS, ISO)

* Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across structures, MEP, moorings, and architecture, optimising for constructability and lifecycle

* Represent the project in Class engagement, client discussions, and shipyard handover processes

Key Qualifications:

* Master’s Degree in Naval Architecture, Architecture, or a related discipline
* Chartered status (RINA, ARB, RIBA, or equivalent) required
* 10+ years of experience in maritime infrastructure or large floating-asset design
* Deep understanding of marine regulations and experience managing Class/Flag submissions
* Proven leadership in delivering complex, multi-stakeholder projects from concept through to fabrication
* Advanced proficiency in model-based design tools (Rhino, FEM, CFD, etc.) and regulatory coordination
