A warm and inclusive primary school in Pontypool are looking for a dedicated autism Teaching Assistant to work closely with a wonderful Year 3 pupil who thrives with consistency, patience, and calm encouragement. This is a highly rewarding 1:1 role where relationship-building is everything. You'll be joining a school that genuinely values its support staff - you won't just be "an extra pair of hands".
What the role involves:
Providing 1:1 support for a primary-aged pupil with autism
Helping to create a calm, structured and predictable learning environment
Supporting communication, emotional regulation and social interaction
Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow tailored support plans
Encouraging independence in learning and daily routinesWhat we're looking for:
Experience working with children with autism or additional learning needs (school, care or similar settings)
A calm, patient and consistent approach
Ability to build trust and strong relationships with a pupil over time
Good communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team
A genuine passion for supporting children to reach their potentialWhat you can expect from us:
