Job Overview
This post is suitable for a newly or recently qualified podiatrist or one who already has experience, who is enthusiastic, motivated, and ready to join our friendly team. The role offers the opportunity to further develop your skills in all areas of podiatry, including routine treatments, high risk and ulcer care, biomechanics, nail surgery and more. You will be given a one‑year preceptorship to become a Band 6 podiatrist, with a full induction programme and regular supervision sessions.

Key Responsibilities
* Assess, diagnose, devise, implement and evaluate a treatment plan for patients with a wide range of complex clinical needs, including diabetes and vascular disease, rheumatology, biomechanical conditions, and acute and chronic wound management.
* Provide education and self‑management advice to patients and/or their relatives and carers, including signposting to non‑NHS foot care providers.
* Carry out simple biomechanical assessments in general podiatry clinics, prescribe and fit simple chair‑side orthoses, advise on exercise, stretching programmes and footwear.
* Carry out simple diabetic foot assessments, including appropriate advice.
* Perform nail surgery.
* Manage ordering, maintenance and security of stock.
* Maintain clinical records to a professional standard in SystmOne, ensuring all activities are recorded in a timely manner.
* Safely handle patients who may be immobile, wheelchair‑bound or bed‑bound, often in confined spaces.
* Under initial supervision, perform sharp debridement of diabetic foot ulcers, provide complex wound care, apply appropriate dressings and off‑loading.
* Address any complaints promptly and, where appropriate, refer to your line manager.
* Provide flexible cover for other podiatrists at short notice or during periods of absence, which may be at any site.
* Actively participate in clinical supervision and team meetings.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should be a qualified podiatrist, either newly or recently qualified or experienced, enthusiastic and motivated. A commitment to ongoing professional development and the ability to work across a range of settings—health centres, community hospitals, patients’ homes and care homes, as well as acute hospital wards and the MD‑T diabetic foot clinic—are essential.

The cost of any required DBS disclosure will be met by the individual and may be deducted from salary once employment begins.
