About the Department

Our Physical Education Department consists of four teachers. The Department is a combination of experienced staff and more recent entrants to the profession, and is given strategic direction by supportive and determined leaders. We have the benefit of support from the Trust's team of expert Physical Education Director who provide support, materials, advice, coaching and who model and team‑teach in lessons alongside us to develop our expertise. The Department has created a rich and engaging curriculum which has deep roots in teaching for understanding. Our curriculum is differentiated by depth, ensuring all students build firm foundations, develop confidence and retain their learning. Our extra‑curricular offer is diverse offering students a wide range of opportunities to engage, including discrete dance lessons in KS3 along with various sport disciplines.


Key Responsibilities

* Deliver high-quality teaching in Physical Education to students across the curriculum.
* Design and implement lessons that reflect curriculum developments and promote student success.
* Use a range of teaching and learning strategies to support diverse learners.
* Collaborate with team members, leaders, and specialists to provide professional development and coaching.
* Contribute to the planning and delivery of an engaging extracurricular programme.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records and assessment data.
* Commit to safeguarding and promote children's welfare within the school setting.


Qualifications and Experience

* Qualified teacher with a relevant teaching licence or equivalent.
* Experience teaching Physical Education, preferably within a secondary or key stage setting.
* Strong understanding of curriculum developments and statutory requirements.
* Demonstrated ability to use a range of teaching strategies and assessment methods.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to collaborate with colleagues and students.
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
