Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 per annum
Type: Permanent
We are currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team in Sheffield. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of industrial projects, taking designs from concept through to detailed engineering and manufacture.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design mechanical components, assemblies, and industrial machinery using SolidWorks.
* Produce detailed 2D fabrication drawings and 3D models.
* Design sheet metal components and welded fabrications to manufacturing standards.
* Support projects from concept through to manufacture and delivery.
* Liaise with fabrication and production teams to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective.
* Generate BOMs and technical documentation.
* Support prototype builds, testing, and design improvements.
Skills & Experience Required:
* Strong experience using SolidWorks (essential).
* Background in mechanical design within industrial machinery, fabrication, or similar environments.
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in Mechanical Design.
* Good understanding of manufacturing processes.
* Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
* BSc / BEng in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, Product Design Engineering, or similar.
