Responsibilities
* Promote and implement practice conducive to the development of high quality patient care.
* Provide support and guidance to all staff.
* Support the NICU Nurse in Charge with duties to ensure seamless running of the NICU.
* Work and communicate well with the multi-disciplinary team.
* Carry out and advise/supervise junior staff.
* Take charge of the clinical area if required.
* Co-ordinate and monitor the progress of patients within their plan of care and promptly and effectively communicate relevant changes to the multi-disciplinary team.
* Ensure infection prevention and control guidelines and procedures are followed and high standards are maintained.
* Ensure the safe custody, supply and administration of drugs and therapeutic substances in accordance with Trust policy.
* Plan, develop and implement approaches to promote health and wellbeing.
* Ensure that clinical records and documentation are maintained accurately.
* Be competent in a role during emergency situations and providing support to other members of the team.
* Demonstrate advanced clinical skills and theoretical knowledge including enhanced practice.
* Act as a role model and demonstrate expertise within the sphere of practice.
* Use leadership skills to create an environment that is safe and supportive to ensure effective teamwork and a motivated, efficient workforce.
* Ensure clinical incidents and near misses are accurately reported and acted upon in a timely manner.
* Have an awareness of cot capacity whilst on duty.
