Overview
As a Retail Optical Assistant at Vision Express, you’ll assist our customers in finding and selecting eyewear that meets their needs. You’ll help with frame adjustments, repairs, and fittings. You may perform pre-screening eye examinations and administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, supporting the phone lines from customer queries and processing payments. Your goal is to provide excellent customer service and ensure customers leave happy with eyewear that fits properly and meets their vision needs. We are Vision Express, with over 550 stores across the UK and Ireland, part of the EssilorLuxottica family.
We offer flexible options for the ideal working week, including schedules around school runs or a compressed week, and we’re open to discussing flexible options further.
Responsibilities
* Provide excellent customer service with personalised assistance and address customer needs and concerns
* Communicate clearly, translating professional terminology into language understandable to patients
* Maintain accurate customer records, prescriptions and requirements to support service and product recommendations
* Work as part of a store team and handle high-pressure situations in a fast-paced retail environment
* Demonstrate confidence, passion, drive and enthusiasm
* Inform customers about optical products and services (frames, lenses, contact lenses) and promote offerings to help achieve store targets
* Arrange and maintain the store’s look and feel, keeping it organised and stocked in line with store marketing guidance
Qualifications and requirements
* Ability to provide personalised customer service and build rapport
* Strong communication skills and the ability to translate terminology for customers
* Attention to detail in maintaining records and prescriptions
* Team player with the ability to work across the store
* Resilience to work under pressure in a retail environment
* Knowledge of optical products and services is preferred
