Overview
Applications are invited for the post of Professor of Molecular Therapies in the Department of Biological Sciences. This is a part-time role at 0.5 FTE and is for a fixed term of 36 months. The position is available from 1 October 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. The post is based in Egham.
Salary and Terms
Salary £74,753 per annum pro rata - including London Allowance. This is the expected starting salary for this post; appointment at a higher point may be made for candidates who demonstrate exceptional skills and experience relevant to the role.

Responsibilities
* Conduct research in the field of molecular therapies for human rare disease, specifically neurofibromatosis type 1, with an international reputation evidenced by publications and grant income.
* Contribute to teaching in the Department through engaging lectures and practicals for Biomedical Sciences students; lead modules and supervise undergraduate projects; provide personal tutoring.
* Lead and manage module development, liaise with clinical colleagues in local hospitals and the biopharmaceutical industry; contribute to MSc by Research; participate in Departmental administration including Rare Disease Day.
* Engage in training the next generation of scientists, with a track record of supervising PhD students to completion.
* Demonstrate experience with licensing of patents and being a named inventor; secure funded international collaborations enabling research towards clinical applications of molecular therapies for NF1.
* Ensure compliance with Human Tissue Authority, Health and Safety, and research ethics requirements.
Qualifications
* Outst anding track record in molecular therapies for human rare diseases, with international reputation and substantial grant income.
* Experience with licensing of patents and a recognized inventor.
* Funded international collaborations enabling research towards clinical application of molecular therapies for NF1.
* Experience with Human Tissue Authority, Health and Safety and research ethics.
* Established track record in training the next generation of scientists and supervising PhD students to completion.
* Evidence of teaching excellence with strong student feedback and ability to engage in clinical and industry liaison.

The post is based in Egham, on a campus near Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London. This position is not eligible for hybrid working.
