Our eco-friendly client produces packaging material made from sustainable natural resources. They strongly believe that conservation of resources is the path of sustainable development, and this is their primary responsibility.
They are on the search forsomeone with a practical knowledge of a range of packaging materials, processesand manufacturing methods; and someone with a creative, logical and analyticalmind to generate innovative design solutions to technical design problems.
The Role :
As a Packaging MaterialTechnologist, your main responsibility will involve working with packagingmanufacturers, suppliers and retailers to develop new packaging ideas andsolutions using our client’s sustainable materials.
You will be working closely withthe CEO, Research and Technical Advisors on creating effective solutions for projectsconsidering materials, functionality and sensorial all through the lens of massproduction techniques to deliver unique, value-driven and sustainable packagingexperiences.
The successful candidate will supervise and guide internal teamsand external partners to create suitable solutions as per clients’requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Planning and executing all aspects of packaging development fornew products for both new and existing major customers
2. Liaising with customers early in the process, understanding anddefining NPD requirements and translating them into confirmed packagingcriteria
3. Developing new or existing packaging that meets supply chain,formulation, consumer, brand, regional and confidentiality requirements
4. Sourcing, selecting, developing and specifying components thatmeet customer briefs, cost targets, supplier capabilities, factory facilitiesand all critical deadlines
5. Communicating with all stakeholders across the process,identifying/highlighting any risks and offering carefully considered mitigatingactions and back up plans
6. Consistent proactive application of a wide range of knowledge coveringpackaging materials, component manufacture and print
7. Liaising with clients to ensure that the clients’ requirements aremet and delivered on time with the highest level of service
8. Proactively assessing current packaging production process toidentify areas for improvement
9. Planning, organising and executing packaging trials
10. Responsible for timely and effective development andimplementation of new packaging materials and product
11. Identifying and understanding key internal customer supportrequirements through regular reviews with operations, quality, and engineeringfunctions
12. Preparing reports on issues of product fragility, protection needed,reaction to light, moisture and other materials, transportation and temperaturechanges.
13. Preparing reports on legal requirements of labelling and safepackaging for hazardous materials. Further environmental impact and disposalmethods of packaging.
Key Skills Required:
14. Degree level qualification in relevant/similar (preferablytechnical) field
15. Proven experience in Product Development or similar role
16. Experience with basic HACCP principles
17. Experience working with Bagasse based materials within thepackaging Industry
18. Experience with working with clients on various projects
19. Strong networking skills, particularly with other technicalcolleagues
20. Enthusiastic and self-motivated with good verbal and writtencommunication skills.
21. Able to communicate complex engineering and design principles topeople at all levels of the business, across different functions.
