Job Description

This fixed‑term role (up to 2 years) is for an Energy Advisor who will support the EA in regulating the energy sectors to help achieve Net Zero and protect the environment.
As a senior advisor you will provide expert support and technical leadership, develop strategy and tools to regulate, commission and manage external research projects, and work closely with internal and external stakeholders such as Defra, DESNZ, trade associations and industry players.
Responsibilities
* Provide expert support, guidance and training on regulatory requirements for combustion plants, waste incineration and refineries.
* Develop and deliver strategy for the energy sectors, including the tools required to regulate, support development and deliver environmental outcomes.
* Commission and manage external research projects where needed.
* Collaborate with Defra, DESNZ, internal operations teams, trade associations and other key industry players.
* Respond to incidents and provide business continuity support during emergencies.
Qualifications & Experience
* Relevant technical and regulatory knowledge of energy sector processes.
* Experience working with control measures for emissions to air.
* Demonstrable ability to build and maintain good relationships with colleagues, operators, regulators, government, trade bodies and academia.
* Ability to work effectively in a diverse environment and encourage others to consider diversity issues.
* Experience of delivering technical advice on combustion plants or similar installations.

Additional Information
This vacancy closes end of October. Interviews are expected to be held in Birmingham by the end of November. The role may require some travel.
