Job Summary
The Department of Geography at Streatham Campus has a new opportunity for a graduate to join their Professional Services team. You will support the Head of Department and two Senior Academics. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience within the vibrant community of the Department of Geography, developing executive support skills, learning about the university’s systems, policies, and processes, and applying them to support the work of Senior Academic staff and the Department.
The role includes coordinating communications and administrative tasks for Geography, such as diary management, making travel arrangements, supporting special projects, and organising events. This role is part of the Graduate Business Partnership (GBP) Scheme, offering full-time hours (36.5 hours per week) and a 12-month contract, extendable to a maximum of 23 months. You will be based on Streatham Campus in Exeter.
About You
You should be a graduate with experience in effective use of social media, event organisation, and communication with diverse audiences, and be confident using Office 365. An interest in geography, environmental science, and climate change issues is desirable. You should be highly organised, capable of managing multiple activities simultaneously, and able to plan and prioritise your work effectively, especially when facing competing deadlines.
You should be able to work effectively under pressure, multitask without compromising attention to detail, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to work successfully in a small team, be creative, innovative in problem-solving, and maintain a positive attitude are essential. Good IT skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly are required. You should be able to work independently, recognizing when to seek guidance, and demonstrate a commitment to equal opportunities.
