Laboratory Animal Technician (M/F/D)
Avantor is looking for a motivated Laboratory Animal Technician to join our team in Cambridge, UK. In this role you’ll take responsibility for supporting in vivo laboratory operations, ensuring the welfare and enrichment of laboratory animals (rats and mice), and contributing to the smooth running of scientific studies. You’ll play a key role in enabling cutting-edge research by maintaining high standards of cleanliness, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
* Support in vivo research by preparing clean cages, managing enrichment materials, and ensuring the welfare of rats and mice
* Maintain consumables and reagent inventories, manage pipette servicing, and keep communal areas clean and organised
* Liaise with facility management suppliers and stakeholders to improve operational processes and drive time/cost-saving initiatives
* Adhere to SHE regulations, COSHH standards, and Avantors risk assessments; report incidents and maintain a safe lab environment
* Maintain accurate documentation to support service delivery, compliance, and training
Qualifications
* Experience working in a laboratory environment and familiarity with in vivo procedures and animal care are highly desirable.
* Strong customer service skills and ability to collaborate with internal and external teams.
* Clear communication, good organisational and time management skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team; flexible with working hours.
* Basic IT proficiency; familiarity with GLP and SHE regulations is an advantage.
* Self-motivated, dependable, and detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Other Details
Working hours: Monday to Friday, core hours.
Location: Discovery Centre, Bio-Medical Campus, Cambridge.
