Job Title: Legal PA
Location: Manchester
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Working Hours: 9-5:30pm
3/2 Split after Probation
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Legal PA to join a well-established and highly regarded law firm based in Manchester. This role is ideal for a proactive and highly organised Legal PA who enjoys supporting fee earners in a fast-paced professional environment while delivering a high standard of client service.
The Role
You will provide comprehensive PA and administrative support to fee earners, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of matters and maintaining excellent organisational standards.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Managing fee earners’ diaries and task lists using a computerised diary and task management system to ensure deadlines, appointments and key dates are met
2. Producing accurate and timely documents using digital dictation and case management systems
3. Creating new clients, matters and contacts on the case management system in line with internal procedures
4. Drafting, amending and finalising documents in line with house style, including advanced formatting, tables of contents, tracked changes and comparison documents
5. Maintaining the case management database, ensuring all data is accurate and compliant with data protection requirements
6. Proof-reading all work before submission
7. Preparing correspondence and documentation ready for signature and dispatch
8. Attending team meetings and preparing minutes as required
9. Handling professional communication with clients, internal stakeholders and external contacts
10. Booking meetings, arranging travel and accommodation, and managing logistics as required
11. Managing file administration including file opening and closing, billing support and archiving
12. Filing and document management, primarily electronic
13. Ensuring compliance with all internal procedures, regulatory requirements and relevant legislation
14. Working collaboratively with other Legal PAs and administrative staff to ensure work is delivered in a timely manner
Candidate Requirements:
15. Previous experience working as a Legal PA or Legal Secretary
16. Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail
17. A proactive, team-focused approach
18. Experience using legal case management systems (Partner for Windows or similar preferred)
19. Advanced Microsoft Word skills, including tracked changes, outline/multilevel numbering and tables
20. Audio typing experience or qualification
21. Professional appearance and manner
22. Strong communication skills and a client-focused approach
Desirable:
23. Experience or knowledge of database systems
24. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
25. Experience using PowerPoint
