Overview
Administrative support to the Audiology department and reception duties to book patients and handle enquiries. Booking of appointments for patients and dealing with phone, email and text enquiries. The post holder will use a designated computer system to enter patient data and perform general office and clerical duties. Two posts are available: 1 x 20.5 hours and 1 x 20.25 hours. The post holder may be required to work flexibly to ensure adequate cover for the service.
Responsibilities
* Provide reception duties and deal with telephone, email and text enquiries from patients and other healthcare workers.
* Deal with face to face enquiries from patients who may be hard of hearing or deaf.
* Type up clinic reports and letters to support Audiologists.
* Use Relay to communicate with deaf patients where required.
* Book clinic appointments and reschedule cancelled appointments to optimise Audiology workload.
* Respond to patient data entry and general clerical duties using the designated computer system.
* Maintain confidentiality of patient information and organise transport including ambulances and taxis for patients.
* Issue replacement batteries to patients and assist patients/service users/carers/relatives during incidental contacts.
* Plan and organise day-to-day workload and activities to meet job demands.
* Organise battery distribution to local centres, taking into account stock levels and ensure patient notes are available for clinics.
* Organise hearing aids for repair through drop-in, internal and external post; send and receive earmoulds to/from manufacturers as required.
Responsibilities for Resources
* Ensure safe and efficient use of equipment, resources and consumables at all times.
* Contribute to the efficient management of departmental resources, including ordering and monitoring supplies.
