An opportunity has arisen to recruit a Hand Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or Physiotherapist to our highly regarded Hand Therapy Unit, which is a busy, friendly department treating all types of hand/wrist problems. We work closely with our Orthopaedic and Hand surgeons, Rheumatologists, Emergency Department, and with our local GPs.
We are looking for a candidate with proven hand therapy skills, including a good understanding of thermoplastic splinting and wound management. Ideally, the candidate should have achieved a minimum of BAHT Level 1.
The successful applicant will be highly motivated, flexible, and an innovative therapist. Good communication, time management, and organizational skills are essential. You should be able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.

Main duties of the job
1. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions using evidence-based/best practice.
2. Provide advanced assessment and treatment of patients with hand and wrist problems.
3. Manage own caseload within a defined clinical area, working independently with support as required.
4. Utilize the expertise of senior staff to develop skills and knowledge.
5. Undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
6. Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team.
7. Train and develop junior staff.
8. Undertake evidence-based audits to improve clinical practice and make recommendations regarding practice and service protocols.
9. Represent therapies as a high-performing, knowledgeable, and supportive professional group.

Clinical
Be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of your work, including patient management.
Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients, including those with complex presentations, using advanced skills. Formulate individualized management and treatment plans, utilizing clinical reasoning and a wide range of treatment options. Signpost to other specialists or services as appropriate.
Professional
Comply with the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct of your relevant professional body.
Maintain your competency through CPD, keep abreast of new trends, and incorporate them into your practice. Maintain a personal development portfolio.
Organizational
Supervise and coordinate junior staff, assistants, and students as required, in conjunction with the team leader or senior therapists.
Ensure your practice and that of staff under your supervision meet professional standards of physiotherapy practice.
