Are you passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND? Torbay Council is seeking a dedicated and skilled Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) Coordinator to join our SEND Service. As an EHCP Coordinator, you will play a vital role in the coproduction of Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs plans for children and young people aged 0–25 with SEND.
Key Responsibilities:
* Coordinate efficient assessments and planning for students with special educational needs and disabilities.
* Draft high-quality EHCPs, ensuring compliance with current SEND legislation and statutory timescales.
* Work collaboratively with parent/carers, young people, education providers, health and social care colleagues to champion the child or young person.
* Interpret and incorporate multi-agency assessments into restorative, co-produced plans.
* Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with families, schools, and professionals.
* Facilitate meetings using person-centred planning approaches, ensuring all voices are heard.
* Ensure safeguarding and promote the welfare of children and young people in line with Council policies.
About You:
* Experience working with children and young people with a range of SEND, and their families.
* Good working knowledge of SEND-related legislation and the SEND Code of Practice.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities, with emotional resilience and tact.
* Ability to work effectively across agency boundaries and prioritise workload.
* Educated to GCSE O Level standard (or equivalent) with English (A–C).
* Experience of working in schools and with parents/carers.
* Commitment to evidence-informed practice and continuous professional.
This post meets the requirements for an Enhanced Criminal Record Check. This will show spent and unspent convictions and adult cautions which have not been filtered in line with legislation, plus any information held by local Police that is considered relevant to the role.

Essential:

This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
Knowledge
Essential:
* A thorough understanding of current legislation and DfE guidance and developments in special educational needs.
* A broad understanding of issues surrounding general developments in educational assessment and intervention.
* Knowledge of legislation and procedures relating to assessment and provision for children with special educational needs.
* An understanding of the implications of the emerging changes to legislation relating to special educational needs.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
* Experience of working in schools.
* Significant experience of work in relation to young people and children with special educational needs.
* Significant experience of working with young people with special educational needs.
* Commitment to evidence of applying an evidenced informed practice approach.
* Evidence of having delivered improved outcomes and impact for children and young people.
