Temporary Senior Finance Officer – Plymouth (onsite) - £30-£32k FTE
Trial Balance Consulting are delighted to have been engaged by a well-established Plymouth-based organisation, seeking to recruit a Senior Finance Officer to join them for a 3-month temporary contract. This is a hands-on and varied opportunity, ideal for an experienced finance professional with strong ledger skills and the confidence to support a busy operational finance team during a key period.
Working onsite and reporting to the Finance Manager, the Senior Finance Officer will take a leading role in ensuring accurate financial processing and maintaining robust accounting records. Key responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing sales and purchase ledgers, including invoice processing, receipts and supplier payments
- Managing credit control and aged debtor reporting, assisting in the collection of outstanding income
- Posting bank transactions and completing bank and holding account reconciliations
- Supervising Finance Assistants and providing cover across day-to-day finance operations
- Managing petty cash and weekly banking routines
- Processing payments both in person and over the phone
- Maintaining spreadsheets and internal financial reporting tools
- Monitoring and correct allocation of restricted funds
- Assisting with budgeting, forecasting and ad hoc cost analysis
- Supporting month-end routines including journals, reconciliations and management accounts preparation
We’re seeking a confident, detail-focused finance professional, with solid all-round experience and the ability to hit the ground running in a busy environment. Experience within a charity or not-for-profit environment and working knowledge of Xerowould be beneficial, particularly as the organisation is preparing for a system migration.
