> Description Employer description: The University of Salford’s Digital IT function focuses on digital strategy and information security (IS). IS is essential for protecting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the university’s IT systems and data. The team works across technologies to ensure security compliance and proactively improves the security posture of the organisation. Responsibilities: Contributing to the development and operation of IS governance, standards, and procedures. Assisting with security incident handling and investigations. Supporting risk, vulnerability, and business impact assessments. Engaging in patch monitoring, vulnerability scanning, and penetration testing coordination. Maintaining security registers and reporting findings. Communicating threats and vulnerabilities to stakeholders. Supporting governance forums and committees with management information. Staying updated on security technologies and trends to recommend improvements. Desirable skills: Communication and collaboration in a multi-functional environment. Attention to detail and structured approach to work. Ability to research and communicate security threats. Familiarity with security operations, incident management, and threat intelligence. Analytical and problem-solving skills. Diligent and detail-oriented. Team player with strong cooperation skills. Adaptable and innovative mindset. Courageous in decision-making and willing to challenge existing practices. Accountable and proactive in achieving goals. Entry requirements: An A-Level in ICT OR an International Baccalaureate at Level 3 in ICT OR a Level 3 apprenticeship in a similar subject OR a BTEC Extended Diploma in IT (180 credits) You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme. If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
