Principal Mechanical Engineer
We are seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Belfast team as we take on new projects. The role involves designing and managing mechanical building services for complex buildings, including refurbishments. You may work independently or as part of a larger team on major projects.
Responsibilities
1. Deliver engineering design solutions for mechanical building services
2. Manage projects from concept through to site installation and commissioning
3. Perform calculations and coordinate mechanical services with high accuracy
4. Collaborate within teams on large-scale projects
5. Work across sectors such as commercial, industrial, retail, healthcare, education, and leisure
6. Mentor junior staff, including Graduates and Apprentices
7. Understand contractual, project management, and change control processes
Qualifications & Skills
* Relevant education and experience in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering
* Membership of CIBSE, IMechE, IET, or similar professional bodies; relevant design experience considered
* Ability to handle client and contractor meetings at all project stages
* Chartered Engineer or working towards chartered status
* Experience in design and supervision of projects, preferably in health, education, or defense sectors
* Valid driving license
* Proficiency in AutoCAD, NES, Microsoft Office; REVIT and thermal modelling software experience welcomed
* Knowledge of energy assessment, BREEAM, Hevacomp, and calculation software
* Willingness to travel within UK, Ireland, and internationally for project work
